Visual Awareness Training

Looking to make your services more accessible to visually impaired people?

Working with or caring for someone visually impaired and want to understand them better?

Then look no further...

What is visual awareness training?

Visual awareness training is an ideal way for employers and employees to raise their awareness of visual impairement and make their services accessible. It gives you a good introduction to sight loss and the many ways that visually impaired people can be supported. Our training is also well suited for people with a visually impaired friend or family member.

The full day course covers:

  1. The implications of sight loss.
  2. The effects of different eye conditions.
  3. Communication and guiding skills.
  4. Equipment and services available for visually impaired people.
  5. Environmental issues experienced by visually impaired people.

Flexibility

We want to meet your training needs and can either train individuals at our centre or come to you and train a group. If a different focus is required we have some different sessions that can be added. These include: certification and registration, daily living activities and the emotional impact of sight loss. We can deliver sessions at any length required.
