The Norfolk and Norwich Association
for the Blind (NNAB)

With 200 years of successfully caring for people with poor sight, the NNAB has a proven record of providing specialist care and help both in the community and within our own Residential Home and Sheltered Housing accommodation.

Our Aims

The Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind (NNAB) was founded in 1805 and is the fifth oldest voluntary blind society in England.

Our aims are to provide:

Thomas Tawell House

Recognised as a specialist provider by Social Services with a purpose–built home in Norwich, providing en–suite accommodation for 37 residents with poor sight.

Hammond Court

A complex of 20 flats in Norwich, looked after by full–time wardens.

Equipment Centres

All the Equipment Centres offer information, advice and help. A wide range of daily living aids may be seen and purchased.

Community Workers

The eleven–strong team visit, advise and support people in their homes.

Hospital Eye Clinic Information Services

Trained Volunteers in Norfolk hospitals give information of a non–medical nature about services available to visually impaired people.

Volunteers

We rely on 250 Volunteers for essential support for all our activities.

Education and Recreational

We run Braille, Moon, Craft, Computer, Painting and Art Appreciation Classes.
We organise Sailing, Tandem Cycling, Walking, Bowling and Holidays.

Membership Scheme

Annual membership is available for a minimum cost of £5.00 which would entitle you to vote at the Annual General Meeting held in October each year – please contact us if you would like further information – telephone 01603 629558.

Other Organisations

We work closely with the Sensory Support Team of Norfolk County Council’s Social Services and the National Blind Charities such as The Royal National Institute for the Blind, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Action for Blind People and St Dunstan’s.

Visual Awareness Training
