Hammond Court

Hammond Court is a supported housing centre for people with sight loss.  Located in Norwich, the centre offers self-contained accommodation in a range of bed-sits, single person (one bedroom) flats and two persons (one double bedroom) flats with the support of a team of trained staff.

Housing, care and support

Accommodation at Hammond Court is provided in 13 single person flats/bed-sits (Hammond Court 1) and 7 single and two person flats (Hammond Court 2).  Each flat is fully self-contained and specifically designed for people with sight loss.

Additional communal facilities include a lounge, spacious garden room, laundry and guest flat.  We also provide on-site maintenance support so that we can respond quickly to breakages and other problems.

Meals can be purchased from our Residential Home should you chose not to cook. There is a good choice of food at a reasonable cost.

Large award winning accessible landscaped gardens with a green house and water feature provide a safe outdoor environment and walking area, and a dog pen is provided for the use of guide dogs.

The supported housing services provided at Hammond Court allow tenants to combine secure, self-contained accommodation with practical support from staff for all aspects of daily living.  Wardens visit daily to provide help with mail, to assist with routine support needs and to help tenants access other services such as GP surgeries and home care.  Other members of staff are available in the Equipment and Information Centre to help with daily living aids and to give advice when needed.  All flats are linked to the emergency alarm system, staffed 24-hours a day, should emergencies arise.

Personal care is not provided although staff will always respond to your needs in a genuine emergency.

Recreation and Activities

The local area

Hammond Court is based in the centre of Norwich, close to a range of local facilities.  It is 5 minutes from Anglia Square, a complex of shops, cafes and a cinema and just 10-15 minutes from Norwich Cathedral, Norwich Castle Museum and the main shopping areas.  The area is well served by local transport.

Becoming a tenant

Applying to live at Hammond Court is easy.  You can do this in a number of ways:

Our staff will post you an application pack or will arrange a time to complete a form with you on the phone.

Our staff will email you an application form for you to complete and return by post.

Once we receive your form, staff will arrange to meet you to assess your needs.  If your needs can be met by Hammond Court, you will be offered a flat (or a place on the waiting list if none are available).
