The Norfolk & Norwich Association for The Blind
Equipment Centre Volunteer (Great Yarmouth)
The NNAB equipment centres are here to help with the practical issues of sight loss. We are looking for a volunteer to join our team at the Great Yarmouth Equipment Centre.
Most importantly, new volunteers will support our existing volunteers and staff at the GYEC to warmly welcome our clients, provide tea and coffee and interact with our clients at leisure or arts and crafts activities.
We would also train all new volunteers to provide information, help and advice and how to demonstrate useful equipment that may be seen and ordered by (and for) individuals experiencing sight loss.
Our Equipment Centres stock equipment at all levels, from the simplest things to help make tea safely through to the latest hi-tech solutions available.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable volunteers who feel comfortable working with clients on a 1:1 basis.
No previous experience is necessary as full support and training will be given. Volunteers are required to attend an NNAB training session prior to their start date and refresher training may be required to keep up-to-date with the NNAB’s policies and procedures.
• Visual Awareness Training
• Regular, ongoing advice and support from the NNAB
• Payment of out of pocket expenses agreed in advance
