Art & Craft Support Volunteer

Art & Craft Support Volunteer

The Arts and Craft volunteer role plays an important part in helping the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind to support people living life with sight loss to take part in weekly art and craft sessions at our Magpie Road site in Norwich.

A volunteer supports this process through helping with these weekly art based workshops. Could this be you?

Overall Purpose: To support weekly art and craft sessions (particularly on a Thursday morning during term times) for people living with sight loss. You will be volunteering as part of a small team to support our clients in art based activities, for example: drawing, painting and felting.

Support is to be offered, without giving interpretation of client’s art work and you will be responsible for enabling and encouraging clients to produce their own art pieces rather than the volunteer producing art work themselves. The volunteer may be occasionally required to guide a client around the building.

Main duties:

  • Help to set up art and craft sessions and clear up after sessions
  • Enable clients to complete arts based tasks on a 1:1 basis
  • Support new co-workers in their first sessions, orientating them the work of the project and helping them to meet with the clients
  • To engage socially in the group and respect equality and diversity
