Activity Centre
We already help some 20,000 people in Norfolk who have poor sight by providing:
- Accommodation and care
- A community visiting service
- Educational and recreational facilities
We really do make a difference but with your help we could do so much more.
Our exciting new venture will enable us to build on our existing services and provide further opportunities for people of all ages.
Our new Centre will be a place where personal confidence can be developed, new skills learnt, new friends made and help given to start, or return to, employment.
We know that if we give encouragement, practical support and provide the opportunity, we can help to change people’s lives.
Our vision for the future is an Activity Centre where we can:
- Teach Braille and Moon
- Train people to use their low vision aids
- Teach people to use computers and technology
- Provide visual awareness training for businesses and the public
- Organise craft, painting and creative writing classes
- Give people the confidence to develop their independent living skills, including cooking
- Provide a venue for a youth club, meetings, exhibitions, lectures and social activities such as dancing and a choir
- Provide a multi-gym and fitness training
- Develop our telephone support service

Our Activity Centre would also include:
- An enlarged Equipment and Information Centre
- A Low Vision Aid Clinic
- A tape / CD recording room and tape / CD library
- A Braille transcription room and Braille library
We have already raised, or had pledged, some £1.131m of the £1.425m required; we own the land and have the necessary planning permission.
We receive no state funding and rely entirely on legacies and donations.
Be part of our vision and help it become reality for the people of Norfolk. If you would like further information, or would like to visit, please contact us on Norwich (01603) 629558.
